25/02/12 - Caulfield, Rosehill and Eagle Farm

Caulfield

Race 1 - Not a great betting race and it's probably best to sit out.  However I see 2 standout selections which could entice me to an quinella/exacta bet.  These being Spirit Song and Rock Of Ages.  I'm going with Rock Of Ages as it loves a good track, has won over this distance at it's only attempt and carries 5kg's less than Spirit Song.

Race 2 - Hot Spin looks hard to hold out here.  Clearly the class in this race which is proved by a close up 2nd to African Pulse and a 3 length 3rd to Eagle Falls.  Is well weighted considering these results with 57.5kg.  Has Craig Williams riding to counter this.  Will race handy or lead and prove very hard to catch.  Other hopes to It Is Written, The New Boy and Instalment.

Race 3 - This is a tricky race for 3 year olds over 1800m.  Most runners in this race have form around the 1400m range so it's uncertain how they'll handle the extra 400m  I'm going with Dany The Fox.  The horse goes well on a good track winning 2 from 3.  Has run on it's past couple of starts which suggests that it should be able to handle the extra distance.  Will be able to position itself in a good position from the 2 gate.  Other hopes to The Specter, Now You Know and Hoylonny.

Race 4 - There should be a fair speed set here with a number of horses engaged that like to rumble along.  That should help Soft Sand who loves to run on.  She was excellent last start where she blew away her rivals, some are in this.  1st time at this trip but I think she can handle it.  Other hopes to Shopaholic, Anabandana and Nocturnelle.

Race 5 - I'm a self-proclaimed Pinker Pinker supporter.  Although her record isn't fantastic 1st up (1 3rd from 3), I'm prepared to back her based on her class.  She is good over this distance and will carry 2kg less than the males who she has beaten previously.  The pace in this race should be sufficient enough for her to unleash a nice finish.  Whatever she does today, get on her next start as she's 3 from 3 2nd up!  Other hopes to King Mufhasa, Playing God and Wall Street.

Race 6 - The warning lights are flashing here for me.  The speed should be very solid.  I know the gun horse here is Sepoy but I can't seen him getting an easy time with 58kg.  He may prove me wrong but I'm prepared to take him on.  I'm going to go with Bel Sprinter.  I really liked how he ran on 1st up to win impressively.  I think he's come back a better horse and with just 54kg he'll take some beating.  Other hopes to Sepoy, Woorim and Grand Nirvana. I'll be going wide in at least 1 quaddie.

Race 7 - A fair speed should be set in the Blue Diamond.  Samaready is a quality horse and is a deserved favourite.  However I'm going with Mama's Choice.  The main reason is that I got on her before her 1st start to win this race at massive odds and I want that collect!  Besides that she showed a lot of promise in her 1 and only start where she came from the tail of the field to win.  I can see that style being an advantage in this race with so many speedy types engaged.  The extra 100m will also suit as will the firm track.  Other hopes to Samaready, Applegate and Formidable.

Race 8 - I like the look of Southern Speed here.  Looks to be in terrific shape after 2 runs back from a spell.  Goes really well at this track (last year's Caulfield Cup winner) and likes a good track.   This distance should be perfect at this stage of her preparation.  Other hopes to Manighar, Lucas Cranach and Glass Harmonium.

Race 9 - I was on Princess Narine when she won 1st up.  Her 2nd up 0.2 length 2nd to Speediness has been shown to be very good with Speediness coming out last week and winning nicely.  Barrier 10 is a concern but I think she can get across to be handy.  Goes well at this track and distance.  Other hopes to I'm Discreet, Let's Be Happy and Fashion.

Rosehill

Race 1 - 2 year olds with limited form...no thanks.

Race 2 - 7 runners after early scratchings here.  I won't be getting too involved if at all.  My leaning is towards Laser Hawk.  Has had 2 starts for 2 wins and has looked fairly good doing so.  Drops to 54kg here with the Pumper on board.  Should be able to stalk the leaders and hopefully kick on.  Said Com hardest to beat.

Race 3 - I'm a little gun shy tipping La Remlap here.  The last few starts she's lead and been run down.  That concerns me here to with a number of speed horses engaged that could chip away at her.  However in her favour is that she drops back in class here, likes the sting out of the track and has a good record at this track and distance.  Other hopes to Hurrara, Potions and Mighty Obvious.

Race 4 - Single will do me here.  Has built a nice record thus far, winning 4 from 8.  Has won 3 out of 4 at this track and also won it's only attempt at this distance here.  Should get a delightful run from the peg.  Other hopes to Merchandise, Permit and World Wide.

Race 5 - 8 out of the 9 runners here resume which makes it tough.  Despite the 59.5kg it will lump, I'm going with Secret Admirer.  Put simply, it's got too much class for these.  It's 1st up record is sound, likes a dead track and has won previously over this distance.  Other hopes to Neeson, Triple Elegance and Latin News.

Race 6 - It's hard to go past Rain Affair here.  The price on offer makes it near impossible to bet on though.  Races for the 1st time beyond 1200m but going on the authority in which it won last start you couldn't knock him getting the 1400m.  Excels on a soft surface.  Other hopes to Rangirangdoo, Shoot Out and Startsmeup.

Race 7 - This should be an excellent betting race with more than a handful of winning chances.  I'm going with Dystopia.  Has had a freshen up and races well that way.  Gets Schofield Snr in the saddle and he's got a great record on this horse.  Handles the sting out of the track hasn't been out of the placings from 4 starts at this track and distance.  Other hopes to Balmont, Cabernet and Ofcourseican.

Race 8 - Based on his past 2 starts, Fontelina will be hard to topple here.  Looks to have a lot more going for it than the rest of these.  Goes well on a dead track and over this distance.  Was nominated for a race earlier on the card but connections have selected this as their best hope. I agree.  Other hopes to Romanus, Think Mink and Olinoor.

Eagle Farm (Meeting Abandoned)

Race 1 - Not enough wet track form for these 2 year olds.

Race 2 - Didn't I tell you I hate these 2000m+ races in Brisbane last week and every time they're on?  If you want to have a bet, close your eyes and point your finger at the list.  Pass.

Race 3 - Noble Jester narrowly got the biscuits for us last start and I'm not jumping ship today.  Has been racing really well lately and has a perfect record over this distance and at this track.  Should be able to handle the wet.  Other hopes to I'llbetricked, Bang On and Narcelo.

Race 4 - I've put Arctic on top here.  Won 1st up on a heavy track here.  Looked really good in that effort.  Drops considerably in weight from past runs.  Other hopes to Empress Me, That's Karma and Viking Heart.

Race 5 - God I'm really starting to hate this meeting haha.  I'm going with Ten Seconds in this sprint.  Has shown an ability to handle a wet track.  Has a nice overall record but this could possibly be a bit too short 1st up.  Wet track will be an equaliser.  Other hopes to Felony Flight, Bob And Dolly and Tafeer.

Race 6 - Finally we've got something we can be fairly confident about.  I like Our Hussey in this. Looks to have superior wet track form over the rest.  Has a great record at this track and distance.  Has also been racing well recently.  Other hopes to Catch The Light, Oak Street and De Bois.

Race 7 - I'm going with a Sydney horse down in the weights here in She's A Rock Star.  Handles a wet track well and has a great record over this distance.  Beat Duke Of Cornwall in the wet and also ran under 4 lengths to Red Tracer last campaign.  Other hopes to The Sixties, Mr Armstrong and General Purple.

Race 8 - I'll go with Win A Million in the last.  Hasn't done anything fantastic since resuming but has been thereabouts.  Importantly it can handle a wet track and goes very well over this distance.  Cassidy could give her nice time of it in front.  Other hopes to Save A Buck, Mr Slick and Santo De Lago.

18/02/11 - Flemington, Warwick Farm and Doomben

Flemington

Race 1 - Not enough form to have a bet here.  Interest will be in seeing how Black Caviar's half brother All Too Hard goes.

Race 2 - I'll be backing Sidecar in this.  Should get the run of the race just behind the leaders.  Bolted in last start over this distance by 3 lengths.  Consistently in the top 3.  Other hopes to Persian Star, Kallogg and Warator.

Race 3 - This looks a top race with at least a handful of chances.  I'm going with Under The Hat.  Will carry a lot less weight than most of these with only 54kg after the claim.  That is a big advantage in my mind.  Looked quite good last start when it was 2nd up.  Has previously won well 3rd up which it will be here.  The close 2nd to December Draw last campaign stands out.  Other hopes to Chasse, Fawkner and Lethal Arrow.

***With the scratching of Fawkner, I'll promote Over Quota***

Race 4 - I can't see these beating Mosheen here.  Has to carry 3.5kg more than the rest of the field but this is a classy animal and weight shouldn't stop her.  Looked awesome last start and should go on with here.

Race 5 - Again I'm going with another short priced favourite here in Helmet.  Was one of the boom horses last spring after winning some impressive races.  Warmed up for this with a nice trial.  Excellent record over this distance.

Race 6 - I'm really looking forward to this race.  Black Caviar is the obvious top pick.  It would be un-Australian not to go for her.  Having said that, over 1000m I think a few of these could serve it up to her for a big part of the race.  She'll be too strong at the line though.

Race 7 - Pago Rock grabbed the biscuits for Silk supporters last start and I don't see a reason to jump ship now.  Fought on well against Like An Eagle to win 1st up.  That horse went on this week to win the Hareeba to frank the form.  Pago Rock has won over this distance in it's only attempt and has a good 2nd up record.  Other hopes to Agrippa, Speediness and Parthian.

Race 8 - Tough way to finish the day in Melbourne.  Again there's quite a number of horses here that won, you wouldn't be shaking your head and asking how did that happen.  I'm going with Bigelow.  Ran quite well 1st up with 60kg when 2.7 lengths behind African Pulse.  Goes well over this distance, winning 2 from 3.  Likes the sting out of the ground.  Will be running on so will need some speed.  Other hopes to Liveandletdie, Eraset and Testascana.

Warwick Farm

Race 1 - I might have a small interest bet in this race but more than likely I'll give it the flick.  It's 1 of those doozies where anything can happen.  Having said that, I've put Moonstones on top.  Being a Zabeel, it's racing better as it races further.  Has won it's past 2 starts which have been over 2100m and 2400m.  Will be racing on the pace which is handy at Warwick Farm with the rail out.  Other hopes to Managroa Flyer, Tropicana Girl and Planetarium.

Race 2 - Small field of 2 year olds so I won't be getting involved.  Driefontein, Hussousa and Agueda will fight it out.

Race 3 - Another 2 year old race that I won't be getting involved in.  I'll be keenly watching how Raceway goes for future big races.

Race 4 - I'm treating this race with caution.  I'm going with Skateboard.  He should be able settle in just behind the leaders and get a great run.  Loves a dead track and has won his only start over this distance.  Other hopes to Thumbtacks, Rolling Pin and Kinnersley.

Race 5 - I'm quite looking forward to this race with a number of handy types resuming.  Beaded is a model of consistency, only being out of the placings once in 22 starts.  I think she'll go well here.  Will get a great run just behind the leaders who will set a nice pace.  Her 1st up record is tops, winning 4 out of 6. Handles all going and loves this distance.  Almost bullet proof.  Other hopes to Red Tracer, Steps In Time and Balmont.

Race 6 - Manawanui looks awfully tough to hold out here.  Especially at equal weights to it's opposition.  This is the quality horse in this race and should have too much on the rest.  Trialed well leading into this.  Will get a beautiful run from the inside draw.  I give a hope to Moment Of Change.

Race 7 - The logical pick here after it's exploits last campaign is Streama.  However I'm drawn to 1 at big odds.  $21 to be precise.  Nocturnelle grabbed the cash for us last time it raced and I have a sneaky feeling that this is a good horse.  Has won 3 from it's 4 starts with 1 of those wins over the very decent horse Combat Kitty.  Has won at this track.  Other hopes to Streama, Karuta Queen and Pane In The Glass.

***With the scratching of Nocturnelle, I'll promote Streama to top pick and make Hallowell Belle a hope***

Race 8 - Stratford is untested at 1300m but I doubt the extra 100m will be a problem.  Has put together some nice wins in it's short career.  Looked really good winning last start 1st up by 2.3 lengths.  Trialed just behind Red Tracer recently.  Other hopes to Oakfield Commands, Hood and Onthelookout.

***With the scratching of Oakfield Commands, I'll promote Brayroan to the other hopes ***

Doomben

Race 1 - I normally stay out of 2 year old races such as these.  However I can the race being set up for Gibberer.  The speed will be on which will set it up for this filly to be charging home.  Currently at $5, that will do me.

Race 2 - Did I tell you how much I hate these 2000m + races in Brisbane?  Urrggh.  You've got just as much chance picking the winner in these by throwing a dart at the form guide.  I'll give it a miss.

Race 3 - Tomboy is short in betting.  However it's a quality animal that's putting together a nice record.  Looked good resuming 4 weeks ago.  Has won 3 out of 4 over this distance.  Should get a great cart into the race with Fangles setting a fair clip.  Other hopes to Mystical Grey, Fangles and Lemieux.

Race 4 - I'm going with Barrassie Brother here.  Has won it's past 2 starts over this distance.  Up in grade but looks a handy type.  Will get a great run from either in front or on the speed.  Other hopes to Amber's Crown, Another Superior and Judy's Joy.

Race 5 - Spirit Of Flatley looks right in this.  It will get a glorious run from the peg.  Goes well over this distance and enjoys the sting out of the track.  Has been freshened for this and races very well when that has happened in the past.  Other hopes to Encinitas, All That and Mundi Gully.

Race 6 - Lucky Luna will do me here.  Don't get me wrong, it's a tricky race.  However Lucky Luna is racing in good heart at the moment.  Likes this track and distance and has a nice rapport with the jockey.  Other hopes to Elusive Port, Steel Zip and Shamardashing.

Race 7 - Tricky race indeed.  I'm going with the Sydneysider Big Bad Joel.  Has to lug 59kg but there doesn't look to be a lot of opposition in this race.  Has a tremendous record over this distance and has been racing in nice form.  Cassidy will nurse this fellow around.  Other hopes to Trombone Alley, Snip 'N' Duck and Beggin.

Race 8 - Theft looks the one to beat for mine.  It loves this track and distance and has a great 2nd up record.  Munce will give it a great run.  Looked good 1st up in the slop but will appreciate a drier surface. Other hopes to Purettan, The Reveller and Around The World.

Flemington - Race 3 Number 13 Under The Hat

Warwick Farm - Race 5 Number 1 Beaded
                      Race 8 Number 6 Stratford

Doomben - Race 8 Number 8 Theft

Friday 10 February 2012

11/02/12 - Caulfield, Rosehill and Eagle Farm

Caulfield

Race 1 - Spirit Song looks hard to beat in the opening event.  The horse has been in outstanding form this campaign, winning 3 and finishing 2nd in it's 4 starts.  2 of those wins have been on a good track and it donkey licked it's rivals in those.  Other hopes to Our Spirits Bay, Winged Charm and Procida.

***Winged Charm has been scratched.  I won't promote any others to the other hopes***

Race 2 - This is a little tricky with a field of inexperienced 2 year olds so I'll watch this with a view to the Blue Diamond.

Race 3 - Again a tricky race for 2 year olds.  I'm going to have a small bet on Malasun.  Won it's debut race here.  Should be further improved and will get a great run from alley 2 with Oliver onboard.  Other hopes to Formidable, Applegate and Samaready.

Race 4 - Like the look of Vivid Vixen here.  I'll forgive it's 1st up run where it ran 2nd last as it had no luck at all.  It never really does anything 1st up but 2nd up is another story.  It has 2 wins and a 3rd from 3 2nd up starts.  Goes super at this distance winning 2 and placing 2 from 5 cracks.  Should get a great run in the leading few.  Other hopes to Shout Out Loud, Shadowfax and Green Moon.

***Green Moon has been scratched.  I'll promote Ranger to the other hopes***

Race 5 - There's at least a handful of winning chances here.  I've got a wrap on Proliferate but will wait till it's got some runs under it's belt.  I settled on Specter.  It has an excellent record, only being out of the placings once in 6 starts.  It ran well 1st up for 2nd in the Zeditave.  It won it's 2nd up run last campaign and goes well at this track.  Will get back but I don't think that will be a problem with a reasonable speed on.  Other hopes to Pied A Terre, Proliferate and Huegill.

Race 6 - Black Caviar shoots for 18 straight wins today and steps up to 1400m.  I doubt this will cause her any problems.  Southern Speed should make the race a better spectacle but in the end, the great mare will make them look 2nd rate.

Race 7 - Karuta Queen looks hard to hold out here.  Is a gun over this distance and with 52.5kg will jump and run from gate 2.  She'll be extremely hard to run down.  Other hopes to First Command, Decircles and Weekend Special.

Race 8 - I'm going to place my trust in the New Zealand group form holding up here and back Anabandana.  I've watched a few of it's videos and it looks an impressive type.  Has to carry 58.5kg here but has Craig Williams in the saddle and also looks a strong type.  Has never been out of a place and has won 5 of 9.  4 from 4 at this distance.  Other hopes to Soft Sand, Miss Stellabelle and Belle Of The Court.

Race 9 - Miss Octopussy looks an excellent chance in the last.  She's back in mares company with just 54kg.  I reckon that's a steal for a quality horse like this.  She has an excellent record at the track and distance.  She should lob in the first 5 horses and get a great run.  Other hopes to I'm Discreet, Irish Dream and Let's Be Happy.

Rosehill

Race 1 and 2 -  I'll be giving the opening 2 races a miss.  2 year olds with limited form on a damp track....no thank you.

Race 3 - I think Didntcostalot cost dictate this race from in front.  Has won it's 3 starts comfortably.  With the rail out 6 metres, he should be able to get a handy lead and prove very hard to run down.  La Remlap seems the likely quinella/exacta horse.

Race 4 - Hurrara was abysmal 1st up when it ran stone motherless last by close to 8 lengths.  I may be barking mad but I'm going to give it credit and assume that was a glitch.  It's overall record is good winning 5 times from 12 races.  Just loves this distance.  Goes well on a rain affected track and should position itself nicely in the leading bunch.  Nash back onboard is a plus.  Other hopes to Detours, Aeronautical and Danes Bullet.

Race 5 - Happy Hussy should get a very easy lead here and prove hard to run down.  Only has to handle the wet track to be winning this.  Her record over this trip is excellent and is in great form.  Other hopes to Hatton Garden, Think Mink and We Betcha.

Race 6 - This is an even affair with many chances.  I've gone with Brightest.  Firstly the horse can handle a wet track.  It's a good young horse with a decent record.  Hopefully they get the horse to settle handy today given the rails out.  Other hopes to Romanus, Magic Weekend and So Generous.  I would definitely promote Said Com if it starts here.

Race 7 - I'm not particularly keen on this race.  It stinks of a blow out.  I'll have a small wager on Dolphi's Boy.  Has been racing well and winning in weaker grades over this distance.  Thankfully this isn't a leg of the quaddie as it's basically a field job.

Race 8 - Said Com will need a bit of luck to win this.  It will get back from it's wide gate which will probably not be ideal with the rail out.  However on the plus side is the way it handled slow going in it's debut.  It looks a quality horse and I think could be running over these.  Other hopes to Hoylonny, Big Time and Boston Tea.

***Said Com has been scratched.  I'll promote Hoylonny to top pick and bring in Wild And Proud to the other hopes***

Race 9 - As much as I like Rain Affair, I won't be chasing any silly odds.  The horse has a tremendous record, only losing once in 9 starts.  It also loves the wet.  However I'm really wary of Rangirangdoo and will have a sneaky e/w bet on him.  I think those 2 will be fighting this out.

Race 10 - I'm going with Charing Cross here.  Ran well 1st up to win with 60kg.  Drops to 52kg after the claim here.  Has a good 2nd up record and can handle the wet.  Should be able to get a good run in the leading bunch.  Would assume that it will be strong at the finish given that it has raced well in harder grades over longer.  Other hopes to Maules Creek, Merchandise and Sienna Red.

Race 11 - This looks a very good race to finish the day with a number of chances.  I'm sticking with Rolling Pin.  The horse has been in great form lately.  Drops to 54kg and handles wet going very well.  Will be able to lead or box seat.  Other hopes to Alma's Fury, Mr Make Believe and Mr Unforgettable.

***Alma's Fury has been scratched.  I'll promote Star Of Octagonal to the other hopes***

Eagle Farm

Race 1 - Urgh, I can't stand these 2000m plus races in Brisbane. Just seems to be pot luck.  Maybe that reflects more on my ability than the horses!  I'd put Gold Rating on top but won't be backing it.

Race 2 - 2 year olds with limited form...no thanks.

Race 3 - Noble Jester has been racing in great fashion in easier grades than this.  However there doesn't seem to be much in this race.  It drops considerably in weight and gets the in form Hammer on board.  I'm confident this horse will be running strong at the finish.  Other hopes to Object Of Virtue, Murrumba Downs and Mule Forty Six.

Race 4 - There is a reason that Achievements has 59kg here.  It's clearly the best horse in the race.  I'm not letting the big impost perturb me.  Sure it makes things tougher but I just don't think there's a lot of opposition here.  The horse should lead which will give Munce the opportunity to control the race.  Has won over this distance at this track in it's only attempt.  Other hopes to Catashee, Emoticon and Kiss Me Deadly.

Race 5 - Bingo Rose should get a glorious run from the 4.  There doesn't appear to be much speed here which will give it an advantage over it's main opposition in Magic Tartan and Just a Piccolo who both get back.  The horse has a good overall record and looks set to win.  Other hopes to Just A Piccolo, Magic Tartan and Mount Kosciuszko.

Race 6 - I really wanted to put The Sixties on top here but I don't think the race will be run to suit.  There appears to be a bit of pace in this race and for that reason I have gone with Essington.  This horse should be able to camp behind the speed and make an assault in the straight.  Just loves this distance winning 6 from 9.  Has a big weight but has proven in the past to be able to carry it.  Other hopes to The Sixties, One Lickety Split and Joint Chiefs.

Race 7 - Risk Aversion looks cherry ripe for this.  The horse has only been beaten once in 5 starts and has a perfect record at this track and distance.  Looked an excellent prospect in it's initial campaign and has primed up for a 1st up hit with a trial 2nd.  Munce should be able to give the horse a super run from the inside draw.  Other hopes to Whateverwhenever and Win A Million.

Race 8 - Although I was on Empress Me last start at juicy odds, I'll be swinging my support to Kilwinning Option here.  Has a massive weight swing advantage over Empress Me from last time. This time around Kilwinning Option draws the good gate and Empress Me is out wide.  The horse will be able to box seat and will be awfully hard to hold out.  Other hopes to Empress Me, Granzella and Double Impact.

Friday 3 February 2012

04/02/12 - Caulfield, Warwick Farm and Doomben

Caulfield

Race 1 - Only 6 horses go around after early scratchings which doesn't entice one to bet.  However there looks a clear quinella/exacta here with Star Of Giselle and Johannapine.  I'm putting Star Of Giselle on top based on the form it showed around some classy animals last year.

Race 2 - I'm putting the top weight Le Societe on top here.  Looked an excellent horse last year when it won it's 2 starts in nice fashion.  Those were on rain affected tracks but a good surface shouldn't bother it.  May not be a betting proposition if odds get too silly.  Other hopes to Shopaholic, Leoncita and Empress Rock.

Race 3 - I'm going for another Moody runner here in There's Only One.  Has a good 2nd up record winning two out of three.  The step up to 1700m should suit.  Has an excellent overall record and likes this track.  Other hopes to Chasm, Prizum and Token Of Honour.

Race 4 - I usually avoid these 2 year old races where there is limited form.  However Jimando looks hard to hold out.  It's debut run has been franked with 3 horses that finished well behind him since winning.  Gets a favourable draw from the inside.

Race 5 - This looks a very competitive race with many chances.  I can see there being a bit of speed on here.  For that reason, I'm going for That's The One.  He'll get back and be running on.  The concern is that with the rail out 10 metres, that style may not be suited so check earlier races to see if they've been able to run on.  Won 1st up last time over this distance.  Other hopes to Secret Hills, Petman and Mosheen.

Race 6 - Supporters of the Silk know that Bel Sprinter is a favourite of the page.  He was very kind to us last campaign and I don't see a reason to get off the train now.  Has a perfect 2 from 2 record 1st up and also over this distance.  Will get a delightful run from the 5 alley.  Other hopes to Definitely Ready, Kulgrinda and Shock Value.

Race 7 - I'm going with Royal Mail here.  It goes up considerably in weight but it's hard to ignore it's record.  It has only been out of the placings 3 times in it's 14 starts.  It has won 3 out of 5 over this distance. Has won 4 from 6 on a good track.  Goes well at the track and distance.  That all adds up to this horse being in the finish.  Other hopes to Sea Galleon, Bolton and Apres.

Race 8 - If you're still alive in the quaddie heading into the last....good luck!  Strewth this is a corker.  Where they all settle down after the start is anyone's guess.  I'm going to take a punt on Excluded.  It has a terrible barrier but has shown an ability to race forward or back.  Stevie King is riding so we can trust he'll give the horse every possible chance.  Has won 1st up over 1500m last time so that holds no fears.  Looks like a decent horse.  Other hopes to Parthian, Coldens Choice and Module.  Go very wide with quadrella's!!

Warwick Farm  (Meeting Abandoned)

Race 1 - On a wet surface, I'll be giving this race for 2 year olds with limited form a wide berth.

Race 2 - Didntcostalot should get an easy lead here and will prove incredibly hard to run down.  Has won all 3 starts and also it's only start at this track.  Beat Safusa by 2.5 lengths here on a slow track.  Other hopes to Detours, Matignon and Velrosso.

Race 3 - Karuta Queen looks too good for these but the price on offer will prevent a bet being had.

Race 4 - Brightest looks hard to beat here.  It looks the best of an average bunch.  Has shown an ability to handle a wet track, winning 1 and placing 2nd in it's other race on a heavy surface.  Has only been out of the placings in 1 of it's 7 starts.

Race 5 - I'm a little concerned that Permit has failed on a heavy track 3 times.  Having said that, it has 2 wins and a 2nd from 4 starts on slow going.  The horse is in great form winning it's past 2 so I'm prepared to give it a go here.  Besides Code Word, the others in this don't handle wet going.  Other hopes to Code Word, Peck and Honourable Aussie.

Race 6 - This race looks to be there for the taking for Mr Make Believe.  The horse loves a wet track, goes super over this distance and importantly will get an easy lead.  They shouldn't be able to run him down.  Key West is next best.

Race 7 - I won't be getting too involved in this race as it looks a little tricky.  Having said that, I think Charing Cross should go well.  It's drawn the widest but should be able to push across and lead or be in the leading few.  Has a handy record in the wet and goes well 2nd up.  Other hopes to Digital Fortress, Olinoor and Sienna Red.

Race 8 - I'm going with Rolling Pin in the last.  Is unbeaten on wet tracks, goes well over this distance and has won at this track.  He should be able to track over behind O'Crikey and take up a prominent position.  Gets a big weight relief on last run.  Other hopes to Alma's Fury, O'Crikey and Mr Unforgettable.

Doomben

Race 1 - I'll give this 2 year old race a miss.

Race 2 - This is a tricky race.  I've gone with Raise Up.  She should be able to get a super run just behind the leaders.  Has a good record at the distance and races well on the fresh side.  Will want a dead track to do her best.  Other hopes to Beggin, Devils Melody and Felony Flight.

Race 3 - I've found this race really difficult to settle on 1.  The main hopes I see are Satch, Gold Shears, Marked, Break The Ice and Eureka Jack.  I'll be having a small bet on Satch.  I see the horse taking up a dominant position.  It goes up 3.5kg on it's last start 4th to Kontiki Park but has been racing well.

Race 4 - I've put Playaction on top here.  His form this campaign is super.  Will get a great run from barrier 3.  Well suited to this distance, winning 2 out of 4.  Other hopes to Lucky Luna, Kumali and Narcelo.

***With the scratching of Playaction, I'll promote Kumali to top pick and bring in Our Recidivist to the other hopes***

Race 5 - Product looks a very capable horse who's putting together a very consistent record.  It can handle any going and importantly has shown an ability to carry weight.  Is on the 7 day back up and won last time it did that.  Other hopes to Tycoon's Heart, Savage River and Geblitzt.

Race 6 - Quite keen on The Ringmaster.  I'll be frank, he just looks to be a better quality horse than these.  His recent form suggests to me that he'll be too strong.  Will get a great run by the Hammer from the 6.  Delicious.  Other hopes to Rusty Hunter, My Elixa and Skater Dude.

***With the scratching of My Elixa, I'll promote Trombone Alley***

Race 7 - I'm not going to be put off by the wide gate that Emmalene has drawn.  There is going to be a fair bit of speed on here so it shouldn't be as much a drama as the horse will get back.  She has a class edge over these and I think she'll be rattling home over them.  Other hopes to Amber's Crown, Leealan and Judy's Joy.

Race 8 - Paprika should give a good sight here.  Ran quite well 1st up after a very long break and should be better for that run.  Is undefeated over this distance at this track.  Although it has a wide gate, I think it can track across and find itself in the front 5 or so.  Other hopes to Fangles, Achievements and The Sixties.

Race 9 - I think Thefifthhole can high ball here and run these ragged.  We've seen him do it over 1400m and at times run out of gas.  1110m on the fresh side will be right up this guy's alley.  I just can't see these running him down.  Other hopes to Hampden, Knox and Cyclone Brad.
